Heceta Head Lighthouse

Heceta Head Lighthouse

The Heceta Head Lighthouse is located 12 miles north of Florence. The lighthouse stands 205 feet above the Pacific Ocean. Built in 1894, it is one of the most photographed lighthouses along the Oregon coast. The light at the top of the 56 foot tower is rated as the strongest light on the Oregon coast. It can be seen as far as 21 miles out to sea. The lighthouse can be reached from the parking lot with just a short walk past the historic assistant lighthouse keeper's house, which is now a bed and breakfast.

If you like wildlife this is a great spot to view sea lions, pelicans, whales, gulls, and puffins to name just a few of the animals we have seen at the Lighthouse. From the parking lot below you can stroll along the beach to the Needle's Eye rock formation truly a sight to behold.
