International Test Rose Garden
A visit this Oregon weekend to Portland's Rose Garden is actually a
visit to the International Rose Test Garden and is just one of several
gardens located in Washington Park in Portland, Oregon. It unites more
than 7000 roses and 550 varieties from around the world. You can view
the roses in bloom from April to October, with a peak in June,
depending on weather conditions of course. New varieties of roses from
many countries of the world are constantly sent to the garden and
tested for their color, aroma, resistance to diseases and other

The Portland International Rose Test Garden is one of the most popular
Portland attractions of all the time. This magnificent garden, a
favorite place to spend some time, especially in summer months when the
roses are in full bloom is a must see for garden lovers. Stop and smell
the roses in the “city of roses” enjoy the views and take some
photographs in the beautiful garden.
With 130 acres of sprawling splendor, Washington Park includes trails,
playgrounds, the Hoyt Arboretum, the Queen’s Walk and these gardens:

The Garden was first established in 1917 by a group of Portland nurserymen.
Admission is free but donations are accepted.
