Umpqua River Lighthouse

Umpqua River Lighthouse

The Umpqua River Lighthouse is located 6 miles south of Reedsport above the entrance to Winchester Bay. The lighthouse was first constructed in 1857 along the Umpqua River but succumbed to a flood in 1861 collapsing in 1864. It was then reconstructed at its present location, in 1894.

The Tower is 65 feet tall and is 100 feet above sea level. The Lighthouse has the only colored signal along the Oregon coast. The red and white flash can be seen for 20 miles out to sea. The light at this lighthouse shines 24 hours a day, but a visit when it is dark out will give you a breath taking view of the lights.

Eight-person tours are available from May 1 to October 30 between the hours of 10 am and 4 pm.

There is ample parking and this is also considered a prime location for whale watching along the Oregon coast.
